One of my musical hero has passed ,he was a true genius .
I’m sad.
My musical point of refence.
He made sophistaced music accessible to every one.
When I heard EWF for the first time I was shocked , gospel, r’n’b, jazz, funk, latin, pop, all blended into a 3 minutes symphony…. ALL’N’ALL
His music helped me through good and bad times .
I’ll miss you.
I still listen EWF everyday as I did when I was younger, my day isn’t complete without.
Thank you MAURICE
RIP

Maurice, you truly left a great impression on everyone who listened to your music. The first time I heard September it truly changed me and I was only 5. From then every single EWF has become a favourite. Thankyou on behalf of the current generation which you also reached, for showing us that anything we do can be timeless. Rest in Peace
Dear Maurice,
You and your band were the rolemodels for me. Not only in music but also showing afrocentred pride and black success. Your words of wisdom made me who I am and as a businessman I still lean on your words. You once told that you strived for excellence on four fronts: lyrics, arrangements & production, albumcovers and liveshows. That was the road to succes. You taught me more than any managementbook ever will. Thank you for that and rest in power.
Maurice and E,W, & F has been and always will be a part of my life. Between God and E,W,F, I made it through some trying times in my life. Thank You Maurice for the inspirational messages in your music;; always spiritual. Also thank you for showing how to express and show love. RIH!!
Dear Maurice, tank you so so much for the beautiful music, the awsome concerts I have visited and sweet memories. You will always live on in our hearts. Love from the Netherlands
“We live the Eternal Dance, forever your Shining Star”
The greatest voice of funky music (No kidding…), I already miss him. Generally speaking, in my opinion Earth Wind & Fire is the greatest band in the world and Maurice White was its prophet. I’m deeply sorry for his Death…R.i.p. Maurice.
Thank you Maurice for your music, it has been and it will always be part of my life, and i’ll share it with my kids. You’ll live forever in our heart and mind.
I cannot believe that Maurice is died. He was for me a great musician and man.I will miss you Maurice. But you will live forever in your Music and in the Band EWF. Thank your for all.
First saw the magic that was EWF and Reece at Bingley Hall in the late 1970’s , so much happened since then but the music has remained timeless. You will always be there for me, RIP.
My deepest condolences to the family, friends and the band members of Earth, Wind and Fire. I wish you all the strength that you need for the time coming now. The world lost a great musician.
Thank you for opening up my ears for jazz, funk gospel and soul music. I got the positive message.
Thank you for sharing your gifts with the world. As I write I’m holding back tears and I’m not exactly sure why. I didn’t know you personally but what I do know is that since my brothers introduced your music to my ears, I can honestly say I know what it is to feel uplifted and happy just from hearing music. You and your group, gave me that experience and I know I’m not the only one as your music has been sampled and appreciated the world over. Your life may have come to an end but your music will live on. Thank you, thank you and THANK YOU for letting me and the world know the funk that lived within you!!! X
I know it sounds cliché, but Maurice had a clear impact on my life throughout the years. It was 1976 and ‘Getaway’ came out on the radio, I was eleven and that song really spoke to me, couldn’t wait for that song to come on the air.
Years later when I started to collect the albums, Maurice’s influence made a further impact on my life as a young teen. Started to appreciate his work as I matured. Maurice was truly a fantastic artist and from I could tell of what he made of his ‘baby’, EWF was a passion of work that fortold a vision of a beautiful world that we could all create with love and peace.
Also, this my opinion of course, but I have always believed that no one could do ‘Be Ever Wonderful’ like Maurice could do it. There was something there, a magic in his voice as he sang that. It was him. Even though I never met you or have seen you in concert, I truly miss you.
EARTH, WIND AND FIRE play in my happiest memories of my life. I remember being 8 or 9 in the mid 70s with my mom on a carnival ride. We were so happy. EARTH, WIND AND FIRE was blarring on the speakers at the carnival. Thank you for playing the soundtrack to my fondess memories. Thank you Mr. Maurice White for being a shining star for me to see.

Take it to the sky!!!
As so many have said, the music of EWF was a part of the soundtrack of my childhood. The songs that I love by The Elements are too numerous to even list. EWF albums were a staple in my dad’s music library and I liberated many of the releases from the 70’s catalog into my own library. The songs with Maurice’s distinctive lead vocals are among my favorites. I was extremely saddened to hear of Maurice White’s passing. The fruit of his life’s work have left an indelible mark in my musical memory. I’m passing my love for EWF’s timeless music along to my children, and they love it as much as I did when I was their age. May he rest in peace, and may the comfort of the Holy Spirit be with his family and loved ones.
For the man that brought the kalimba into our lives, I am forever grate for you seeing it in a store one day and thought it would make you play… and the rest it history. I love Maurice so much in high school he was my heart’s desire, my greatest desire was to marry Maurice White of Earth Wind and Fire. My heart is broken The many songs that was written was always on time to help me not only through the day but through life, When I heard the news I cried all night and I put on the music and allowed the Music of Earth Wind and Fire settle my tears to sleep. I was wishing it was a bad dream. Turn it into something good, made me realized that it was all true . I will love you forever Maurice and Earth Wind and Fire is the greatest band to grace us with music and they will carry on, you have taken it to the sky…now you know why. love always Maurice.peace and love.
Maurice, your musical and lyrical vision inspired me so much, dear brother… I have a physical disability and use a wheelchair, and on many days when I’ve felt low, your music has cheered me up– and helped me to get down!! 🙂 I can’t even describe how much I will miss you. Thank you so, so much for the songs and for the overall beautiful artistic vision. I’m a white guy who loves funk and soul music in general, and EWF is the best of them ALL in my book. I’ll be listening to EWF until my homecoming to Heaven too. Like you, I’m a believer in Christ, and I can’t wait to meet you there. I’m feeling sad now, missing you, but I know that putting on your music will help me to feel better once again, as it has so many times in the past. Love you, brother!!! Rest in Peace and Power!!!
All I can say is Thank you all EWF for being a part of my childhood until now. The music was and still continually speaks to us to love life, ourselves and others. Thank you Mr White for sharing a part of your life to help make the world around me a better place to be. I ask that God may give strength and comfort to the your family and band members at this time
Maurice White was that shining star in Black American Soul and Funk Music ,who gave inspirations to a whole generation of musicians around the world, who wished to create music in these same music genres.
Earth Wind and Fire were the nearest equivalent to a Black Beatles.
Maurice White’s musical vision will live on forever with musicians around the world.
R.I.P Maurice White.
From a very loyal fan… from the United Kingdom.

Earth, Wind & Fire took us higher, a rare gift. Maurice, thank you for being that musical genius, for lifting us up, while being the coolest cat around. The Nightshift Houseband just got a whole lot better!
When I need some creative inspiration EWF is my favorite uplifter. Your positive energy lights my world!
I say the Crossover Prayer for you, Maurice, The King Of R&B. I <3 you.
Mr. White will be remembered as a visionary musician for whom no genre had secrets. On the contrary, the musical mix he created was light years ahead of anything else.
Maurice, may be gone, but his music/legacy will forever LIVE on! Same goes for the rest of The Elements. I grew up on the Earth Wind and Fire band, and it’s like saying farewell to family! R.I.P. Maurice White.
Even if your only contribution in music was writing ‘ That’s the way of the world’ , for me, you would have stood out the greatest songwriter in the world. Thank you for your music. RIP MAURICE.
Love you Maurice, miss you and that voice. You are the greatest, hands down. You will always be in rotation in my house and heart. Really hope to meet you in the after-life one day and say a huge thankyou. You are awesome.
As a white kid (and musician) in Massachusetts growing up in the mid-70’s, my first exposure to EW&F was Gratitude. I could not BELIEVE what was exploding out of my speakers when I first heard Africano/Power. Holy sh**! Here were these dudes making the tightest, happiest and most powerful music I’d ever heard, and SO different from anything else on the radio (even now!) I had to have more, so I went HARD for every subsequent album. The best thing about what Maurice created is that all of their work is totally timeless – it holds up, years later, as real ART – I’d put it up next to anything from anyone. And, it’s effortlessly, and honestly, happy. Thanks Maurice.
R.I.P to the great Maurice White. I can remember as a young kid listening Earth Wind & Fire with my dad and that’s how we bonded. That’s what Maurice White music did for people ot bought them together. Earth Wind & Fire bought white and black together there music bought young and old together but the most important it bought me and my father together and for that I will always hold a special place in my heart for Maurice White and Earth Wind & Fire.
From the first time I heard “Mighty Mighty” play on the radio in the 70’s in Philadelphia, you knew something special was happening. I was only 9 years old and the only child of a young Black single mother. From then on the words on Earth, Wind & Fire songs were as the voices of the surrogate Father in my life. Every Earth, Wind & Fire song was the sit down talk with a mentor in Maurice’s voice. My understanding about life, my value system and I would looked at myself. I knew every single song by heart, I mean EVERY SONG! There was a time that I would of loved to challenge the entire group to a lyric dual on Earth, Wind & Fire songs. I think someone commented that “FACES” was Maurice’s favorite album. And FACES was a hidden jewel. By then I was in my teenage years and Maurice was telling me to, “Turn it into Something Good… remember you can choose not to lose find your groove and be a winner”. When I didn’t know what to do I could hear Maurice saying “Take it to the Sky”. “Let Me Talk” & “Share your Love” delivered the excitement of hanging out with a Father figure and a bunch of cool uncles. I was so in tune with Earth, Wind & Fire I could feel and hear the difference in changing of cast and writers. But the core was always always there, the visionary Maurice. I’m probably one of millions that would like to thank Maurice in person. Now that will never happen, But to all his family and band members the person Ramsey Lewis called the most shy person ever, triumphed over personal challenges and set forth on a mission with a message as if commanded by a higher force. And if you wonder if people are still being effected by Earth, Wind & Fire, my daughter in college sent me several urgent messages upon hearing Maurice passed away. Then we shared our favorite songs from The Greatest Band in the Land. Rest Well, Maurice
